View Full Version : By the Numbers: Looking at the week on TV from WWE and TNA

Another week with only six shows and another week with a decrease from the previous week of television. Only two shows had more wrestling this week than last week and those increases were only one minute. Meanwhile, Raw dropped by 15 minutes from the previous week, even though this was the ‘go home’ episode prior to the pay per view. For the first time in eleven weeks, we were both under 150 minutes and 30 matches in a week.

Raw won the week with 43 minutes of wrestling while Smackdown earned the silver again with 28 minutes of wrestling. For the third straight week, NXT edged out Impact to finish in third place. Main Event continued to play in the teens with their fourth straight week, and sixth in their last seven below 20 minutes. Superstars dropped down to 11 minutes after two weeks with 12 minutes of wrestling.

For the first time in ten weeks, the leader board for longest matches includes matches that are less than ten minutes in length. That was not the case for the one minute matches because we had another week with five one minute matches.

The Adrian Neville versus Rob Van Dam match from NXT was the 100th ten minute match for the show. This means that Main Event (with 86) and Superstars (with 62) are the only shows without triple digits ten minute match totals.

Next week should see a number of barriers passed, but this week, we passed 4,500 WWE matches and 250 matches on Main Event. Smackdown, with another week with an average match length under five minutes saw the show fall back into the 4 minute average range. If there was one more minute of wrestling on the show, we would have been at exactly five minutes per match.

Next week, we will have the recap of June’s totals and for the first time, a look at four pay per views.

This week’s episode of Ring of Honor television was a look at the new World Champion so there were no matches that qualified.

The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
