This week’s episode of Ring of Honor television will focus on the promotion that worked with Ring of Honor in May, New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Kevin Kelly mentions the history of New Japan. It was founded in 1972 and features a roster with up and coming stars and legends.

We take a look at one of the matches involving New Japan wrestlers. This one comes from Global Wars.


Match Number One: Hiroshi Tanahashi and Jushin Liger versus Jado and Shinsuke Nakamura


Tanahashi and Nakamura start things off and they jockey for position before locking up. Nakamura with a wrist lock but Tanahashi with a reversal. Nakamura with a kick and reversal but Tanahashi with a reversal of his own. Nakamura with a reversal into a hammer lock. Tanahashi with an elbow and reversal. Tanahashi with a wrist lock but Nakamura with a knee.

Nakamura with an Irish whip but Tanahashi with an elbow and cross body. Tanahashi with arm drags into an arm bar. Tanahashi with a hammer lock but Nakamura backs him into the ropes and gives a clean break. Nakamura misses a stomp but he pushes Tanahashi down.

Jado tags in and he kicks and chops Tanahashi. Tanahashi with a kick and slap and Jado does a Flair Flop. Liger tags in and he sends Jado to the floor. Liger with a baseball slide to Jado and then he sends Nakamura to the floor. Liger with a baseball slide to Nakamura. Liger with a running palm thrust to Jado and then he puts Jado on the turnbuckles. Jado with a low blow and Liger falls to the mat as we go to commercial.

We are back and Jado punches Liger and Nakamura kicks Liger in the corner. Nakamura runs into an elbow from Liger and Jado pushes Tanahashi off the apron to prevent the tag. Liger pushes Nakamura into Jado and Liger with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Tanahashi tags in and he connects with elbows to Nakamura and Jado. Tanahashi with a flying forearm to Nakamura. Tanahashi with a dragon screw leg whip to Jado.

Tanahashi slams Nakamura and he goes to the turnbuckles and hits a senton for a near fall. Tanahashi with punches to Nakamura but Nakamura with a series of kicks ending with a spin kick. Nakamura with forearms in the corner and then he puts Tanahashi on the turnbuckles and Nakamura with a running knee to the midsection for a near fall. Nakamura kicks Liger off the apron and then he hits a belly-to-back suplex that sends Tanahashi onto his chest.

Nakamura runs into a drop kick to the knee from Tanahashi and both men are down. Nakamura with an enzuigiri and Jado tags in. Tanahashi with forearms but Jado with kicks. Jado with a crossface on Tanahashi and Nakamura holds Liger in the ropes. Tanahashi gets to the ropes and the referee makes Jado release the hold. Jado with a chop and Irish whip.

Jado with a clothesline in the corner and Nakamura with a kick. Jado with a belly-to-back suplex and he gets a near fall. Jado has Tanahashi in the ropes for an elevated DDT and he gets a near fall. Nakamura and Liger come into the ring to break things up and Nakamura takes care of Liger. Jado with a kick to the head but Liger with a palm strike to Jado. Nakamura with a flying kick to Liger. Tanahashi with a drop kick to Nakamura. Liger with a cross body off the apron onto Nakamura.

Tanahashi runs into an elbow from Jado but he misses a clothesline. Tanahashi with a wrap around clothesline and Tanahashi goes up top rope and hits a frog splash for the three count.


Winners: Hiroshi Tanahashi and Jushin Liger


We go to commercial.

We are back with a video package on the Bullet Club and their success in Japan. We see highlights of Styles defeating Okada to become the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

AJ Styles will return to Ring of Honor on August 15th at Field of Honor in Brooklyn.


Match Number Two: Kazuchika Okada and Gedo versus AJ Styles and Karl Anderson


The match is joined in progress and Anderson with a side head lock on Gedo but Gedo with elbows to get out of the hold. Anderson with a leg lariat and he gets a near fall. Anderson kicks Gedo in the head but Gedo with a punch. Anderson with an elbow to Okada on the apron. Gedo with a cross body and both men are down. Okdada tags in and he connects with an elbow and kick. Styles is knocked off the apron.

Okada with a DDT to Anderson and then he slams him. Okada with a slingshot senton onto Anderson. Okada misses an elbow in the corner and Anderson with an enzuigiri. Okada with a neck breaker out of an Air Raid Crash and then Okada with a slam and he goes up top. Okada with an elbow drop from the top and then he tries for the Rainmaker but Anderson avoids it. Okada blocks an Ace Crusher from Anderson.

Anderson blocks the Rainmaker a second time and Anderson with a neck breaker and both men are down. Styles tags in and he hits a springboard forearm and he sets for the Styles Clash but Okada escapes and he connects with forearms. Styles with a chop but Okada with more forearms. Styles with slaps but Okada with a drop kick. Gedo tags in and he knocks Anderson off the apron. Gedo with a back body drop to Styles followed by a jawbreaker and DDT for a near fall.

Anderson attacks Gedo and Irish whips Gedo into the corner but Gedo with a boot and Okada kicks Anderson. Gedo with an Irish whip and elbow to Styles followed by one from Okada. Okada with a flapjack followed by a super kick from Gedo. Gedo gets a near fall. Gedo with jabs to Styles but Styles with a Pele Kick and Anderson with an Ace Crusher. Styles with a front face lock into a brainbuster and Styles hits the Styles Clash for the three count.


Winners: AJ Styles and Karl Anderson


We see footage of a tryout camp held by Ring of Honor and New Japan. We see a list of people who have made it through the tryout camps to make it into Ring of Honor.

We go to commercial.


Match Number Three: Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson versus Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero versus KUSHIDA and Alex Shelley for the IWGP Junior Tag Team Championship


Shelley and Matt start things off. They lock up and Shelley with a hammer lock but Matt with a reversal. Shelley with a side head lock and full nelson. Shelley with a side head lock take down but Matt with a head scissors and Shelley escapes. They push each other and Shelley with a forearm and chop. Koslov makes a tag and he connects with a European uppercut to Matt. Matt with a double thrust and he tags in Nick.

Koslov with an arm drag into an arm bar. Koslov with an arm drag but Nick sends Koslov to the apron. Koslov goes for a springboard move but Nick moves and Koslov lands on his feet. Koslov offers his hand and Nick falls to the mat in shock. They shake hands and Koslov sends him ot the mat. Koslov with a spinning back breaker.

Romero tags in and Nick tags in Kushida. They lock up and Kushida with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Kushida with an arm drag but Romero avoids an arm drag, but he does not avoid a drop kick from Kushida. Romero backs Kushida into the corner and Kushida fights out of the corner.

Kushida with a head scissors and then him and Shelley pinball Romero with punches before Shelley tags in. Kushida and Shelley double team Matt when he tries to interfere. They stop Nick from connecting on a springboard move and they connect with a series of kicks. Kushida and Shelley with running back elbows to Romero and then they send Koslov into his partner in the corner. Kushida with a knee and then Shelley with a forearm off Kushida’s back. Shelley with a La Magistral to Romero for a near fall.

Shelley with a chop and Koslov pulls Shelley to the floor. Romero with a knee to Shelley off the apron. They return to the ring and Romero with an elbow to the back. Koslov tags in and he hits a suplex. Koslov gets the hat and it is time for some kicks to the back followed by a double stomp but Kushida breaks up the cover. Romero tags in and he kicks Shelley. Romero with a snap mare followed by a drop kick and he applies a front face lock. We go to commercial.

We are back and Romero with a front face lock on Shelley but Shelley tries to get to his corner but Romero knocks Kushida to the floor. Shelley with a back body drop to Romero but Shelley cannot make the tag. Matt tags in and Nick with a running knee into the corner followed by an assisted Shiranui by Matt. Nick with a kick to the head and then Koslov kicks Nick and Koslov is sent to the floor.

Matt runs into a boot and then Shelley sends Nick to the apron. The Bucks set for a double team move in the corner but Shelley rolls out of the way and Nick with an enzuigiri to his brother. Kushida tags in and he connects with a chop off the top rope. Kushida kicks Koslov and Romero off the apron.

Kushida with an enzuigiri and then he hits a springboard drop kick. Nick trips Kushida but Kushida move and Matt knocks Nick off the apron. Kushida with an enzuigiri to Matt followed by a back breaker and then he goes up top. Kushida with a cross body off the top onto Romero, Koslov, and Nick. Shelley goes up top and hits a frog splash while Kushida hits a standing moonsault but they can only get a near fall.

Shelley sends Matt into the turnbuckles and then Kushida sets for a power bomb while Shelley prepares for Sliced Bread #2 at the same time. Koslov pushes Shelley off the turnbuckles and he tags in. Koslov and Romero send Matt into the same corner as Kushida and Koslov with a splash into the corner and then they hit a series of splashes in the corner and finish with a battering ram.

Matt is put on the top rope and Romero with a kick from the ropes and Shelley breaks up the cover. Kushida and Shelley miss pescados onto Koslov and Romero when the move. Matt with a baseball slide to Shelley and Kushida and then Nick with a corkscrew plancha. Koslov and Romero with a double baseball slide to Matt who was still in the ropes. Koslov with a plancha onto everyone on the floor. Koslov gets Matt on his shoulders but Matt gets to his feet and he pushes Koslov into Romero and it knocks Romero off the apron.

Koslov with an enzugiri but Nick misses a round kick. Nick with a super kick to Koslov. Romero blocks a super kick attempt but he misses an enzuigiri. Romero hits a mule kick on Nick. Matt with a super kick to Romero. Shelley with a reverse atomic drop to Nick and Kushida with a drop kick to Nick. Kushida with a cartwheel and drop kick to Nick. Shelley goes for Sliced Bread but Matt counters and Nick hits a springboard spike Tombstone.

The Hooligans and Bucks alternate forearms in the ring and the referee has no idea what to do. Koslov and Romero with uppercuts and an Irish whip to Nick. Nick avoids a splash from Koslov. Romero hangs in the ropes and the Jacksons with super kicks. Koslov comes off the turnbuckles into a double super kick. The Bucks hit More Bang for Your Buck on Koslov for the three count.


Winners: Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson
