New Japan kicked off the biggest annual tournament in puroresu today, results from Day 1 of G1 CLIMAX 24 at Hokkaido:
They claimed 6000 paid (super full bill stop/a Full House).
All matches were G1 CLIMAX matches.
Block A:
Bad Luck Fale beat Tomohiro Ishii in 9:39.
Shelton X Benjamin beat Doc Gallows in 8:54.
Satoshi Kojima beat Yuji Nagata in 11:27.
Hiroshi Tanahashi beat Tomoaki Honma (Independent/Freelancer) in 11:01.
Katsuyori Shibata (Independent/Freelancer) beat Shinsuke Nakamura in 15:27.
Block B:
Hiroyoshi Tenzan beat Karl Anderson in 10:11.
Toru Yano beat Minoru Suzuki (Independent/Freelancer) in 2:15. Yeah…basically a quick somewhat hardcore brawl.
Yujiro Takahashi beat Tetsuya Naito in 13:54.
Hirooki Goto beat Makabe in 11:37.
Kazuchika Okada beat AJ Styles in 18:03. It’s the first time Okada has beaten Styles to date (Styles had won the prior 2 matches, both of which were for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship).
During the event they announced they will return to the venue on 7/20/2015, could be the opener for or part of G1 CLIMAX 25.
Day 2 is Wednesday at Aomori Prefectural Budokan.
