The “new” All-Japan wrapped up its first official tour today, results from the Summer Action Series finale at Korakuen via SportsNavi:
They claimed 1378 paid. Good.
SUSHI beat Menso-re Oyaji (Independent/Freelancer) in 4:46.

Dory Funk Jr., Osamu Nishimura & Yutaka Yoshie (Independent/Freelancer) beat Takao Omori, Ultimo Dragon (Independent/Freelancer) & Masanobu Fuchi in 12:12. Funk beat Fuchi with a spinning toehold.

At this point, YASSHI aka “brother” YASSHI made a surprise appearance, his first in All-Japan in 5 years. He annoucned he would be at, and possibly participating in, the next Korakuen event on 8/16.

Zeus (Osaka Pro) & Hideki Suzuki (IGF) beat KENSO & Kengo Mashimo (K-DOJO) in 12:40. Zeus pinned KENSO after a jackhammer.

At this point, Go Shiozaki, who is out with an injury, appeared dressed as Frankenstein to promote his appearance in the Japanese movie “I, Frankenstein”, hitting Japanese theaters in September. Shiozaki then said he also will return on 8/16.

Kento Miyahara & Kotaro Suzuki beat Jun Akiyama & Yoshinobu Kanemaru in 9:07 by ref stoppage (Miyahara beat Akiyama). As a result, Miyahara & Suzuki get the next All-Asia Tag Team Title shot.

All-Asia Tag Team Champions Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie (DDT) beat Mitsuya Nagai & Takeshi Minamino (Independent/Freelancers) in 16:35 to retain the titles. Ishii pinned Minamino. V4 for the champs.

All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Atsushi Aoki beat Hikaru Sato in 16:47 to retain the title. V2 for Aoki.

Joe Doering beat Triple Crown Champion Suwama in 21:11 to win the Triple Crown. Doering becomes the 50th All-Japan Triple Crown Champion. Damn?!? It’s like holding the Triple Crown is a curse! This is only the 3rd time ever there have been consecutive champions that failed to make a successful defense (but in one case it was due to injury). Also the first time Suwama didn’t manage at least 2 defenses either. Doering also becomes the 7th foreigner in the title’s history to hold the titles.

Next event is TBA. The reports today mentioned an 8/16 event at Korakuen but All-Japan’s website says the next event is 8/30. We’ll see soon.

UPDATE: SportsNavi reports Akebono will also return on 8/16.
