Breaking news from New Japan today-a press conference was held at the home offices today to announce that apparently another top indy star is headed for the promotion-soon-to-be-former DDT star Kenny Omega. Omega, New Japan Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi & DDT Owner/President Sanshiro Takagi attended today and it was revealed that Omega’s DDT contract expires at the end of the month and Omega said he intends to not re-sign and instead join New Japan. 10/26 will be Omega’s final DDT event. But Omega will not do the 2-promotion deal like Kota Ibushi did…speaking of Ibushi, it was also revealed that his New Japan contract has been renewed for another year. Sugabayashi also noted that although discussions have been taking place since last month, there is not yet an official contract for Omega in place. Omega probably will compete as a Jr. Heavyweight and not continue his successful tag team with Ibushi, who now seems to be focusing on moving up to Heavyweight.
