A documentary titled "The Owen Hart Foundation: A Look Back", directed by his widow Martha Hart, will open The Monaco International Film Festival.

The death of WWE superstar and Calgarian Owen Hart had far reaching effects that stretched beyond the world of professional wrestling.
The efforts of his widow, Dr. Martha Hart, to create a legacy in her late husband’s name had been chronicled in a documentary that has been selected to open the Monaco International Film Festival (MIFF).
‘The Owen Hart Foundation: A Look Back’ documents the foundation’s 15 year history of making a difference in the lives of Calgarians in need, as well as highlighting the effort that went into making the foundation a reality.
“It illustrates the amazing emotional journey that underscores the origins of the Owen Hart Foundation,” she said, saying the foundation was a means of turning her grief into a positive force.
“Owen was such an incredible person,” she said.
“I started the foundation to reflect his wonderful personality and the kindness he showed everyone.”
Creating the documentary, which Hart herself directed, was a six-month journey that she said was as heart wrenching as it was inspiring.
The documentary was selected out of over 800 entries as one of the 17 films scheduled to be screened at the festival, and has been shortlisted for several awards in the short documentary category.
Considered one of the top annual festivals in the world, The MIFF has garnered acclaim for recognizing films that emphasize non-violent topics.
The film will be screened at the festival’s opening gala on Dec.5 in Monte Carlo.
