During the currently ongoing WWE Smackdown taping, WWE filmed a segment where The Big Show announced to the live audience in Houston, Texas that former WWE champion Daniel Bryan will need to undergo surgery on his arm.
Show then led the audience in a "Yes" chant to show support for Bryan.

Bryan was stripped of the WWE championship and has been out of action since this past June when he needed to undergo neck surgery. Bryan has been in physical rehab since that time, trying to avoid needing another surgery to help bring strength back to his arm.

Backstage Update On A WWE Return For Daniel Bryan, Reason For Big Show 'Yes!' Segment

As noted, before Tuesday's WWE SmackDown tapings in Houston, Big Show had fans start a "yes!" chant for a video that would be sent to Daniel Bryan. Show told the fans that Bryan likely needed another surgery. This segment was not taped to air on SmackDown so it appears the video was done just to cheer Bryan up. It's always possible they air it at a later date.
Regarding Bryan's status, a WWE source told The Wrestling Observer that there is no timetable for his return and no guarantee that he will be able to return.

Officially, WWE has been very quiet on the Bryan situation publicly but wrestlers have been talking about Bryan needing major elbow surgery. There was talk of Bryan needing Tommy John surgery, which has a long recovery time, but it's not known if that is the surgery that Big Show was referring to.

It's a damn shame that young, skillful 'littlier' wrestlers like Ziggler and Bryan get the push and win the title which the fans go absolutely crazy about and are then soon after out with serious injuries..bad luck for fans as they see Cena or Orton again in the main events

He will return and win RR.

Reigns will be the last one in the ring and the when #40 is announced. it will be Daniel Bryan

This really sucks for Bryan. When you watch his matches, you can see his wild style that could be called reckless. This guy flings himself all over the ring. He is a talented wrestler, and it sucks to see him on the sideline for so long. I just wish him a speedy recovery so he can get back to his passion, no not Brie.

Just stupid and not true at all. He won't return at least for a year.

The surgery he needs takes at least a year of recovery if not retirement.
