PWInsider.com is reporting WWE officials have been planning to add Seth Rollins to the WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view for some time now.

The report states WWE has had plans in place for two to three weeks now, which would see Rollins entered into the match, also featuring challenger John Cena and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. The idea was discussed for the past several weeks, and was recently finalized, which is why Rollins was added on RAW this week.

There was a discussion by officials that they should continue with plans for Cena and Lesnar to have “the final chapter” in their feud as it was being advertised on television, but it was noted that the Royal Rumble match itself is the main selling point of the pay-per-view.

Additionally, one storyline during the discussion of adding Rollins was to have Brock Lesnar be upset that Rollins was involved. This would of course create a conflict between Paul Heyman, Brock and The Authority, which would have also seen Heyman’s loyalty to Brock called into question.
