New Japan announced some additions to the final 3 shows of this years G1 CLIMAX at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.
First up it has been made official that KUSHIDA will be making his first defense of the IWGP Jr. belt against Ricochet on the August 16th show. Ricochet made his presence known in NJPW once more earlier this month, on July 3rd, as he came out and made a challenge towards both then champion Kenny Omega and then challenger KUSHIDA. Of course KUSHIDA was triumphant, following his BOSJ win as well, and was crowned the new champion. This will mark the first time that KUSHIDA and Ricochet will face-off in over a year and 2 months following the previous years BOSJ in which Ricochet won.
It was also officially announced that BUSHI will be making his return to competition on the August 16. After suffering from an “acute epidural hematoma, spinal cord concussion, the 12th thoracic vertebra fracture” which has sidelined him for the past 6 months. He will team with Taguchi and Dorada to take on the team of Tiger Mask, Komatsu, and Sho Tanaka.
