Former The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) original and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight contender Chris Leben has been arrested for violating an order of protection in San Diego, Calif., early Wednesday morning, according to Bleacher Report.
Leben, who recently turned 35, was arrested on numerous counts of trespassing, as well as felony vandalism and possession of an assault weapon. His bail was set at $100,000 and he was processed at San Diego Central Jail.
This is not Leben's first brush with the law. "The Crippler" was arrested for DUI in 2008 and sent to prison, as well as in 2010 when he was picked up on suspicion of the same offense in Hawaii.
His turbulent past has been the subject of scrutiny multiple times, stemming all the way back to his TUF days. Leben also tested positive for a steroid stanozolol in a post-fight drug test in 2009. Two years later, the Oregon native flunked another drug test for the painkillers oxycodone and oxymorphone.
Leben's career in UFC spanned over eight years, where he amassed a 12-10 Octagon record. He retired on his stool in a Dec. 2013 bout with fellow TUF alum Uriah Hall.
The fan-favorite ended his mixed martial arts (MMA) career on a four-fight losing skid. Since his retirement, Leben transitioned into coaching at a local MMA camp and gym in the San Diego area.
