WWE gave Japanese women's wrestler Kana her new WWE ring name on Thursday.
Kana, who was at the NXT tapings on Thursday evening, found out that her WWE ring name will be "Asuka."
The origins of the name is believed to be Lioness Asuka, a female wrestler considered to be one of the most popular in Japanese history, as she was part of the "Crush Gals" tag-team during the 1980s during an era when women's wrestling in Japan was drawing ratings similar to the NFL in the United States at the time.
