Jon Jones’ latest out of the cage saga may be nearing its end. Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com reported this morning that according to documents from Albuquerque Second Judicial District Court, Jones has a plea hearing set forSeptember 29th (a week from tomorrow/Tuesday)at 8:30 a.m. local time. Raimondi had previously reported a few days ago that the case was moved to a different court “on the stipulation of the parties for the entry of a pre-indictment plea.”

Jones is charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or serious injury stemming from an incident that took place n April 26th. Jones is alleged to have run a red light in his rental car, hitting a car driven by a pregnant woman, after which witnesses say he fled the scene on foot. Those same witnesses say he briefly returned to collect cash he had dropped before running away again. Police found a pipe containing marijuana in the car, but he’s not facing any drug charges. Jones surrendered into police custody the next day.

The UFC quickly stripped Jones of his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship after a face to face meeting and removed him from his fight with top contender Anthony Johnson. Daniel Cormier replaced him and won the vacant title, which he’s defending against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192 on October 3rd in Houston, Texas. That’s just a few days after the haring. Jones is expected to get an immediate title shot upon his return. Cormier was clearly angling for a second bout with Jones after his title win, with the bulk of his post-fight interview consisting of him yelling “Jon Jones, get your sh– together! I’m waiting for you!”
