Road Of Homicide Leads To World Title Shot
Friday, September 29, 2006

Homicide and all his fans have only one date in mind. December 23rd, 2006 will see Homicide challenge for the World Title in the Manhattan Center in Homicide's hometown of New York City. There is one very powerful man determined to see Homicide fail in his quest to win ROH's richest prize.

ROH Commissioner Jim Cornette has declared war on "The Notorious 187" Homicide. The next battles will take place on 10/6 in Cleveland and 10/7 in Detroit. Cornette and Homicide will be in the same building on both nights. Cornette has enlisted The Briscoes as his soldiers. Homicide will have Roderick Strong at his side in Cleveland and Samoa Joe at his aid in Detroit.

Homicide has been with ROH since the very first show, but has been frustrated in his attempts to win any title in ROH time and time again. Controversy has always reigned over Homicide's title challenges. "In Your Face" last June saw Homicide set an ultimatum for himself. He promised to win a ROH title by the end of 2006 or he would leave the company that he helped build. Homicide put the pressure on himself.

Homicide went on to be the "CZW Killer" and turn the tide in the war against CZW with one victory after another. July 15th saw Homicide save ROH in the Cage Of Death and lead the ROH team to victory. Cornette gave Homicide three wishes as a reward, but when Homicide asked for Low Ki's return things quickly disintegrated in the Cornette/Homicide relationship. The end result was Cornette whipping Homicide with help from Adam Pearce and JJ Dillon in an insulting and painful attack. You can witness these events for free in the 7/19/06 edition of the ROH Video Recap at www.ROHvideos.com.

September 16th at ROH's historic debut in the Manhattan Center saw Cornette present an interesting stipulation in Homicide's match. If Homicide won, Cornette would give him a shot at the World Title on 12/23. If Homicide lost he would not get a shot at any title until early 2007. Since Homicide said he would leave ROH at the end of 2006 if he did not win a belt, this stipulation put Homicide in a must win situation on 9/16.

Homicide and partner Samoa Joe went on to defeat The Briscoes in a hard fought contest. Cornette came out after the match and said that Homicide earned his shot at the World Title on 12/23, but first he would have to make it to 12/23.

Now Cornette has set up a series of dangerous matches for Brooklyn's finest. Cleveland on 10/6 will see Homicide team with Roderick Strong for the first time as they take on The Briscoes in a qualifying match in the Survival Of The Fittest tournament. 10/7 in Detroit will see a rematch on 9/16 as Homicide & Samoa Joe battle The Briscoes, but this time there will be relaxed rules. There is no telling what will happen when Cornette and Homicide are in the same building. The war will reach a climax in Cleveland and Detroit.

The rest of 2006 will be the most important time in the ROH career of Homicide. He has to survive until 12/23 and then he has to win the ROH World Title no matter who the champion is on that date. With Steve Corino returning to ROH shortly and the Commissioner against him, Homicide has a hard fight ahead. From now until 12/23 ROH stands for Road Of Homicide
