WWE just announced the latest entrant into the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2016 this morning and it’s the former-AWA champion, Stan Hansen.

It was first reported by Tokyo Sports and here were his thoughts on the induction:

“Very happy to such honor.”

“It is not to answer only to the poeple who gave me to choose me. In the previous career, Bruno Sammartino’s and Bob Backlund’s like, we have a game with many champions. Old has been struggling with a lot of great players from such era WWWF. Perhaps such thing of it is there is.”

“The Lariat,” as he is often called, hails from Texas and is famously known for his battle with Bruno Sammartino, following his WWE debut in 1976.

As soon as he arrived, he set his sights with Sammartino and “broke the legend’s neck” with what became known as “the lariat.” He fought Sammartino in a rematch at Shea Stadium and then went back to Japan where he continues his illustrious pro wrestling career.

Hansen will join Jacqueline, Sting, Big Boss Man, the Fabulous Freebirds and the Godfather. To read more on Hansen, follow this link to the WWE’s profile page.
