Seth Green will play comedy legend Christopher Guest.

By Seth G. Macy Netflix's film about National Lampoon co-founder Doug Kenney has filled the roles of three legends of comedy. Seth Green has signed on to play comedy legend Christopher Guest in the Netflix adaptation of the 2006 book A Futile and Stupid Gesture, with Rick Glassman as Harold Ramis and Jon Daly as Bill Murray, Deadline reports.

The book, and soon to be movie, follow the life of National Lampoon co-founder Doug Kenney. According to Deadline, the movie also explores the importance of National Lampoon to American comedy in the '70s and '80s.

National Lampoon was originally a spin-off of the Harvard Lampoon, Harvard University's on-campus humor publication founded all the way back in 1896. The magazine proved to be enormously influential on American comedy, and the original National Lampoon movies, Animal House and Vacation, are today considered classics.

Titans of comedy such as Bill Murray, the late John Belushi and Gilda Radner, and Harold Ramis gained attention through appearances in National Lampoon's stage and radio programs.

Kenney, working with Brian Doyle-Murphy and Ramis, wrote and produced Caddyshack, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Joel McHale has also joined the A Stupid & Futile Gesture cast, playing former Community co-star Chevy Chase. Chase was a close friend of Kenney, and starred as Clark Griswold in the Vacation films bearing the National Lampoon branding.

Comedian Will Forte will play the role of Kenney in the Netflix movie, with Domnhall Gleeson and Thomas Lennon also playing roles.
