WWE announced on Monday that company Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon is undergoing surgery to repair an injury sustained while training. WWE.com noted that Vince would be back in the office on Wednesday, but did not disclose the nature of the injury.
According to the Wrestling Observer, the word going around WWE is that McMahon tore his quadriceps while squatting. The injury is believed to have occurred over the past several days.
Longtime WWE fans know this isn’t the first time McMahon has suffered a quad tear. At the conclusion of the 2005 Royal Rumble match, Vince McMahon charged to the ring after John Cena and Batista "botched" the finish and both eliminated simultaneously. While entering the ring, he tore both of his quads and was forced to communicate the new finish to the referee while seated.
