Current IWGP Intercontinental champion, Tetsuya Naito, is slowly tearing apart his championship belt. Naito is saying that the Dominion PPV on June 11th will be his last as champion. If he defends the title successfully against Hiroshi Tanahashi, he will destroy the belt completely.

This is all part of Naito’s “Un-governable” gimmick he picked up when he joined CMLL’s Los Ingobernables, and then brought the faction to Japan. Some are speculating that NJPW could drop the title after Dominion, seeing as they plan to crown an inaugural “United States” champion on July 2nd in Los Angeles.

Last year, when Naito won the IWGP heavyweight title briefly from Okada, he was also disrespectful to the belt, and even legitimately damaged it.
