Following UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ win over Daniel Cormier at the UFC 214 pay-per-view this past weekend (Sat. July 29, 2017), rumors have begun to pick up that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar could be returning to mixed martial arts competition in order to partake in a superfight against “Bones.”

Billi Bhatti of The Dirty Sheets podcast reports, “The Beast” will not be fighting in the UFC against Jones, or anybody for that matter, until the Summer of 2018 at the earliest. Lesnar will have to fulfill his WWE commitments first, which include main eventing the Royal Rumble this upcoming January, as well as competing at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans in April.

WWE also reportedly has no interest in allowing Lesnar to compete in the UFC while under contract with them due to the headache they received after he failed his United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test last year following his UFC 200 unanimous decision win over Mark Hunt. Lesnar was under contract with WWE during that time, but they allowed him to compete anyway for the small cost of a little cross promotion.
