MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey will host next year’s WrestleMania 35 event on Sunday, April 7th, 2019. With that event locked in, sports commissions across the United States are already working to secure future WrestleMania events for their respective cities.

On Thursday night, Tampa Bay Sports Commission executive director Rob Higgins announced the city will be submitting a bid on Friday to host Wrestlemania at Raymond James Stadium in 2023, ’24 or ’25. Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL’s Buccaneers, can accommodate approximately 65,000 fans.

“I think it’s something we’ve been taking a hard look at for quite some time,” Higgins said Thursday evening at the Sneaker Soiree, an annual celebration of bay area sports.

“Naturally, we think with the rich tradition of professional wrestling in our community, with so many (WWE stars) who live here, with how much passion there is for professional wrestling, that it makes a lot of sense to try to host the premier event in Wrestlemania.”

Florida has already played host to WrestleMania on 3 occasions:

WrestleMania XXIV, March 30, 2008, Orlando
WrestleMania XXVIII, April 1, 2012, Miami
WrestleMania 33, April 2, 2017 Orlando

The article at the Tampa Bay Times also notes the city would like to host the Royal Rumble in 2022 or 2023, but does not specify if this would be a stadium show.
