WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler is staying with the WWE as he has signed a new contract with the company. The pro wrestling legend revealed the news during the latest episode of Dinner with the King, which is his podcast.

Lawler stated that he signed a new deal as his old contract expired on January 10. He also revealed that it would keep him under contract with the top wrestling company for the next two years.

With his contract expiring, there was some speculation that he could be headed to AEW (All Elite Wrestling), which just launched earlier this month, but that won’t be the case. Lawler addressed this speculation by stating that in fact he wasn’t contacted by All Elite Wrestling. This deal with WWE sees him having a raise, and he is happy to remain with the company. It came about when he told WWE producer Kevin Dunn that the deal was about to be up, which was when WWE sent a new offer.

Also, he mentioned that he’ll be doing commentary for the men’s Royal Rumble match at this pay-per-view event alongside Michael Cole and JBL on Sunday, January 27, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona at Chase Field that will air on the WWE Network.
