MMA Twitter can oftentimes become a mess. This week has been no different. Nate Diaz decided to take a shot at UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. He posted an old photo of “The Eagle” sharing a crowded bath with several teammates. Diaz captioned the photo with “Sambo ?”:

Diaz and Khabib have had their fair share of issues over the past several years. However, welterweight Ben Askren – who has proven to be one of the best trolls on Twitter within the MMA community – decided to interject himself into the conversation. Askren responded to Diaz with the following:

“Tell me the boys in Stockon haven’t done this a time or two after a hard training session.”

This prompted a response from Diaz’s longtime friend and teammate Jake Shields, who came to Diaz’s aid:

“Ben you know you will get slapped in the 209 for even insinuating something like this”

Askren fired back on Shields, who he admits he actually likes, but suggested he try again:

“Sure in the 209 you get slapped, in Dagestan you will get stabbed. Didn’t stop Nate from insinuating. I like you Jake, but try again.”
