Many WWE fans were left without a way back to their homes or hotels after WrestleMania 35 last night. Thousands of fans experienced long wait times for trains in the rain following the event, a fact New Jersey transit officials are blaming WWE for.

New Jersey Transit released a statement this morning concerning the situation:

“The primary factor contributing to the post-event delays was the WWE’s decision to extend the event to 12:30 a.m., which had significant operational impacts on the evening. NJ Transit was not informed of this decision until late last night,” said transit spokesman Jim Smith. “The decision to extend this event resulted in our inability to operate some of those trains due to federal requirements limiting train crew hours.”

“NJ Transit’s top priority is always the safety of our customers and employees. We regret the extended exiting time some customers experienced,” the statement continued.

WWE issued a statement in response, noting that they do not advertise the end-times of their events.

“Just like other sports and entertainment events, we do not advertise an end time,” WWE’s statement reads.

Governor Phil Murphy also commented on the long delays and stranded WWE fans.

“It’s completely and utterly ‘dog-ate-my-homework’ unacceptable,” Murphy said. “We’re fixing it. We’re gonna learn from this.”
