It’s rare that WWE CEO Vince McMahon ever gives interviews. However, “The Chairman Of The Board” recently spoke with Variety to promote SmackDown Live’s move to FOX this October. FOX unveiled SmackDown Live as part of their lineup for the fall at the recent television upfronts in New York City.

While speaking with Variety, McMahon offered a response to some criticism the company has received for not having an off-season. WWE Superstars have, arguably, the most demanding schedule in all of sports and entertainment. Talents and crew travel over 300 days a year, making things difficult in regards to family and personal life.

This criticism was elevated during John Oliver’s rant on WWE in a recent episode of his HBO show “Last Week Tonight.” In response, McMahon says that getting time off is “easy” for talents:

“Anybody who wants time off can get time off. That’s easy. In addition to that, it’s easy to weave a talent in and out of a storyline.

“If they get injured, you’re not expecting that. Or if they have a family matter. Our characters are real people with real problems. It’s a revolving situation where this talent will work these dates, that talent will work those dates.”
