This Friday, WWE presents Super ShowDown live from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The special event headlined by The Undertaker vs. Goldberg will air live on the award-winning WWE Network.

This will be the third WWE event in Saudi Arabia as part of the company’s 10-year partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority. Due to the country’s political and religious climate, we have yet to see a women’s match on one of WWE’s Saudi Arabia shows. However, there are several female WWE performers traveling overseas this week.

Based on social media activity, we know WWE announcer Renee Young and Natalya were on board the WWE charter flight that left San Antonio, TX on Tuesday. This is Renee Young’s second trip to Saudi Arabia, as she served as a commentator for Crown Jewel last year. According to Fightul, Alexa Bliss was also on board.

There’s no word on whether Alexa Bliss and Natalya will be working the pay-per-view this Friday. The fact that two female wrestlers (Natalya and Bliss) are traveling there is notable.

WWE executives and wrestlers have spoken publicly about the company pushing for ‘progress’ in Saudi Arabia. The hope is to one day feature women’s wrestling as part of these shows.

During an interview with BBC last year, Triple H stated, “While, right now, women are not competing in the event, we have had discussions about that and we believe and hope that, in the next few years they will be.”
