All Elite Wrestling superstar Luchasauras was recently profiled by the newspaper of California State University at Northridge and he gave an interview to them for the piece.

During the conversation, Luchasauras, real name Austin Matelson, revealed which WWE legend inspired him to become a wrestler and made him fall in love with Pro Wrestling, among other things.

Matelson, who also holds a master’s degree in medieval history after attending CSUN, stated that he fell in love with Pro Wrestling at the age of 7.

According to the former NXT superstar, The Ultimate Warrior personified his mythological heroes and after watching the Hall of Famer compete on TV, a 7-year-old Luchasauras knew that he wanted to be a Pro Wrestler.

Continuing on the topic, Matelson further said that The Ultimate Warrior was like Conan the Barbarian of Wrestling for him.

During the interview the AEW Star also talked about his WWE run and claimed that he fell into depression after his two year-run with NXT came to an end in 2014 due to a severe spinal injury.

However, the former Judas Devlin managed to resume his Pro Wrestling career after pursuing physical therapy and personal training to get his health back.

Matelson started working for Lucha Underground later on, under the name of Vibora. Though the LU fans started chanting “Luchasauras” at him and he eventually ran with the gimmick after Johnny Impact encouraged him to.

He's got a interesting gimmick I got to say. Taken straight out of Chikara. I'm excited to see more of him.
