The NXT Tag Team Championships will be on the line at NXT TakeOver: Toronto II on August 10th. Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins will look to defend the belts against former champions Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish from the Undisputed Era.
It will be the 3rd title defense for the current champions, who won the vacant titles on June 1st in a 4-way ladder match at NXT TakeOver: XXV. The other three teams in the ladder match were the Forgotten Sons, Fish & O’Reilly, and Burch & Lorcan. The titles had been vacated by the Viking Raiders upon their call-up to the main roster.
Since winning the belts, the Street Profits have defended them successfully against the Forgotten Sons and Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.
The ladder match at TakeOver: XXV was the first time the Street Profits and Fish & O’Reilly have been in the same match on WWE programming. They’ve met another 19x on NXT live events, however. O’Reilly and Fish hold the edge in the series between the two teams with a 15W-5L record.
The only other confirmed match for the August 10th event is a best 2-of-3 falls match between Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole for the NXT Championship.
