This week’s episode of Raw saw a big title change as the Women’s Tag Team Championships changed hands during a long Fatal Four-way elimination match.

A lot of people wondered why WWE decided to put this bout on the SummerSlam go-home episode of Monday Night Raw instead of the PPV itself and a latest report reveals that this call was made by Paul Heyman.

According to reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was the new Executive Director who made the call to have this match on Raw instead of the SummerSlam PPV.

The given reason for it was that the title change would have a greater impact when it takes place after a good match on Raw instead of becoming a forgotten part of the upcoming event:

“Heyman figured the title change would mean more with a longer match and could be showcased better rather than being a forgotten part of a long show.“

This week’s episode of Raw saw the IIconics defending their Tag Team Titles against The Kabuki Warriors, Alexa Bliss, and Nikki Cross and Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

This bout was an elimination match and Bliss and her partner were able to win the Championships after last eliminating Asuka and Kairi Sane.

With Paul Heyman providing input on this bout, it would be interesting to see if the women’s tag belts become more relevant in upcoming times because there are many who believe that the company hasn’t done anything to establish them as serious titles.
