On last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, a new tag team debuted comprised of Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler. Together, the pair would emerge victorious from “the biggest Tag Team Turmoil match in WWE history.”

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the idea for this pairing came from RAW’s Executive Director, Paul Heyman. Apparently, the plan was to have their win on RAW act as a means to showcase Robert Roode’s in-ring skills.

Off the back of their victory, the two will now go on to face the RAW Tag Team Champions at WWE’s upcoming Clash of Champions pay-per-view. The Tag Team Champions just happens to be the team of RAW Universal Champion Seth Rollins and “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman. The duo recently won the titles from O.C. members, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, on the 19/8 episode of RAW.

At the time of writing, there is no further indication as to what WWE or Paul Heyman have planned for Roode and Ziggler. If the plan is to eventually get Roode over, however, then the team may not have any long-term plans.

Clash of Champions takes place on Saturday, September 15th from the Spectrum Center in North Carolina.
