It was revealed over the weekend that SmackDown star Jimmy Uso is currently on the shelf with a knee injury. The expected timeline is that he’ll be out of action for 6-9 months.

It’s believed that he suffered the injury during WrestleMania 36 where he took part in a Triple Threat ladder match for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles that saw Kofi Kingston retaining over Jimmy and John Morrison.

Now, there’s speculation among fans about what WWE will do with Jey whether that means he’ll be kept off of television or be used as a singles competitor.

Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast that there are people within WWE who have suggested Jey might be used as a singles competitor. However, there’s no word yet on if they will move in that direction.

Meltzer also noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jimmy’s injury led to WWE calling up The Forgotten Sons – Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler and Jaxson Ryker – from NXT, which were part of changes made to original plans for the SmackDown tag team division.

WWE has already confirmed The Forgotten Sons vs. Lucha House Party vs. John Morrison and The Miz vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day in a Fatal 4 Way for WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event.
