During an episode of his podcast Something To Wrestle With, Bruce Pichard spoke about RAW Superstar Shelton Benjamin’s tenure with the company. Prichard noted how he doesn’t feel that Benjamin has reached his full potential in WWE.

Prichard reflected on Benjamin’s early days in pro wrestling. He looked back on how he was a part of the developmental class that included Brock Lesnar, John Cena, and Batista.

“JR would say, ‘Goddamn! Blue chipper class! Sassafras!’ And Shelton, first of all, he could do anything — to this day, he can do just about anything. Incredibly talented performer. Yeah, maybe missing a little bit of that it factor, but a great performer and being given the opportunity and being able to work with someone like a Jericho makes him shine all that much more.”

He stressed how Shelton Benjamin’s “stock” was high within WWE, and that many higher-ups felt he could become one of their top guys. Despite this initial belief, however, Prichard divulged how WWE “hit a wall” with Shelton Benjamin and just couldn’t get him to that next level.

Because of this, Prichard doesn’t believe Benjamin has ever reached his full potential. As far as he’s concerned, Benjamin could’ve been a “much bigger star” but doesn’t believe audiences would accept him at this point.
