OHIO VALLEY WRESTLING IN ELIZABETHTOWN, KENTUCKY LIVE REPORT
Before a Crowd of around 100 at the Vaughn Reno Community Center on a wintry February night.
Our night opened with Jack Bull making his way to the ring, reminding the crowd that we are all sinners. Jack had "his woman" bring out his hymnal for him. She was wearing a Sports bra and sweatpants, this caused Bull to take off his coat and give it to her as, "No one wants to see you half-naked woman!" Bull proceeds to sing "This Little Light O' Mine" as only Jack Bull can. Bull's opponent this evening was a newcomer to OVW by the name of Luis Almolodovar. (I'm hoping that's spelled right, it was hard enough to make out his name over the 14" woofer used as a PA). Luis is a very small Puerto Rican gentleman and likes to bounce around a lot.
Bull first extends his hand to Luis with some mocking Spanish greetings. Luis starts to shake his hand only to be slapped. Bull is then chased into the ropes and stalls for a moment or a two. Luis and Bull traded offense for most of the match until Bull's valet involved herself behind the refs back, smacking Luis with the hymnal after he had been choked in the ropes by Bull. Bull won the match countering a sunset attempt by Luis by sitting straight down on him and then grabbing his valet's hand outside the ropes for leverage.
Six man action was next up on the card as The Riggs Brothers & Mikey Batts defeated Osama, Da Beast & Tytus when Batts pinned Tytus. Early trade offs by the faces trying to press an advantage on Osama. Osama finally gets away from Batts to tag in Da Beast, however Beast is quickly sent reeling by Batts and leads to Osama being tagged back in. The heels eventually isolate Batts in their corner. Batts gets in momentary burst of offense that are cut short to build up the hot tag. Jason Riggs is the recipient of the hot tag, he takes out Osama and Beast but Tytus is a different story. Tytus sends Jason reeling and Johnny runs in to take him on as the Batts actually tags to become the legal man. Batts gets a roll up on Tytus for the pin. Post match Tytus destroys Batts.
CM Puss N Boots made his way to the ring for his match up and picked up Osama's hat that had been left at ringside. He does a hat dance around it and models it for the crowd before taking up a collection of trash from the crowd in it. KC Jaymz then struts out to the ring as CM's opponent and the ref starts to pat the down for weapons, however CM checks the ref instead. Puss N Boots takes off his shirt and a woman at ringside offers him a dollar like he's a stripper. CM hops of of the ring and holds open his trunks for the money. This sets off a frenzy of women at ringside doing the same. KC wanting to prove he is just as hot starts soliciting tips. Puss N Boots collects about 30 bucks and KC continues to turn up nothing. CM rolls back into the ring and tells the ref to start counting on KC. The ref got to 9 and KC obviously wasnt returning to the ring, instead of counting 10 the ref just stood there. Referee Stubby Nicks may want to stick to wrestling as Manbeast.
KC finally gets into the ring and quickly takes control of Punk scoring a quick side slam and vicious whip into the turnbuckle before raking CM's eyes. The two men trade blows, KC gets a near fall. KC again whips CM into the corner as KC charges in to follow up, CM ducks and rolls up KC for a quick 2 count. KC connects with a spine buster and another near fall. KC applies a camel clutch to Puss N Boots. CM gets to his feet and falls backward to break KC's grip. Both stagger to their feet, KC hits a punch, kick, slam combination but misses on the follow up standing elbow. Puss N Boots then goes for the anaconda vice but KC backs him into the turnbuckle to break it. KC loads up his boot and pulls it off. KC swings for the fences but misses and Puss N Boots locks in the vice for the submission.
There were many mis-cues in the set up of our next match up. It was supposed to be Seth Skyfire & Chett The Jett vs Deuce & Domino. However things changed a bit. First Roadkill's entrance theme plays yet Seth walks out alone to take the mic. Seth tells us that Chett isnt cleared to work tonight so he's just going to go it alone. Deuce and Domino come out and take the mic now. They first refer to themselves as The Untouchables and then say they signed up a for a tag match. They get in the ring and tell Seth to find a partner as neither of them are taking the night off. Roadkill's music plays again, apparently when it wasnt supposed to and Domino has to stall for time to straighten that out. They finally get going in a handicap match of The Untouchables against Seth. The heels tag out anytime Seth starts to gain and steam with his offense and eventually wear him down. Just when all seems lost, Roadkill runs in to be Seth's partner. Roadkill side slams both heels then splashes them both in the corner. He hits a Death Valley Driver on Domino for the pin. Post match Roadkill correct the fans chanting "ECW" to chant "OVW".
Our lone Championship match of the night saw The Miz & Chris Cage defeat The Highlanders to retain their belts. Robbie and The Miz were to start unil Robbie scratches his crotch and smells his hand. Miz wants no part of him at that point and tags in Cage. Robbie extends his hand to Cage and Cage tags Miz back in. Miz eventually locks up with Robbie. Robbie knocks Miz down and Miz tries for a sunset flip. Shades of Bastion Booger and Robbie goes crotch first into the face of Mizarian. Miz acts like he's going to throw up. Miz tags in Cage. Robbie next channels the Nasty Boys and takes Miz to pit city on Cage. The Highlanders then start tagging back and forth trying to work over Cage's left arm until Rory misses a big splash and hurts his already braced up right knee. The heels then relentlessly attack Rory's knee. After it seems Rory will never be able to walk again with the abuse his knee has taken, he gets an opening to tag in Robbie. Robbie drop kicks both Miz and Cage, then body slams Miz for a near fall. Rory tags in and The Highlanders try for a slingshot inverted vertical suplex. Miz blocks it and the heel hit the Hart Attack on Rory for the victory.
After the trainer helped Rory to the back with his prone knee, Brent Albright and his leather strap come out and take the mic. Brent brags about nearly breaking Elijah Burke's neck on Wednesday night at the OVW arena. Albright says that Burke left that night with a stinger and couldnt even feel his own arms after the match. However Albright has heard that Burke actually managed to get himself to E-town for tonight's show. He dares Burke to come out and face him. Burke charges in and chases Albright from the ring. Albright gets back in the ring but begs Burke to take it easy on him. Albright then begins his assault on Burke hitting a stiff lariat. Burke immediately goes to holding his neck. This goes on most of the match, Burke would start on offensive and Albright would hit a lariat or a suplex and send Burke reeling and writhing holding his neck. Albright had a pin on Burke but Burke put his foot on the ropes. Albright then goes for a pile driver only to have Burke slip out and hit a back body drop. Alrbight attempts a sunset flip but Burke just sits down on him to get the pin fall. Post match Albright starts choking Burke with the leather strap until CM Puss N Boots makes the save. Burke gets up and cant believe Punk helped him. After 2 minutes of teasing Burke extends his hand to CM only have CM turn away and be chased through the upper level of the community center in a very Looney Tunes fashion.
Goose Mahoney defeated Beth Phoenix (w/ Aaron The Idol and Shelly) in an inter-gender tar & feather match. Beth came out with a towel on her head, shadow boxing all the way to the ring and sporting a "Goose Busters" shirt. Goose did his Rowdy Roddy entrance again complete with kilt and bagpipes. The three heels do a Charlie's Angels pose to taunt Goose. Goose just shakes his head. The bell rings and Beth immediately starts ducking Goose. As she finally gets in the ring Idol tries to grab Goose but is caught by the ref. Stubby Nicks sends Idol to the back, as he has his back turned dealing with Idol, Shelly and Beth attack Goose leading to a near fall by Beth. She chokes Goose in the ropes twice then hits a running leg drop for 2 more near falls. She tries for another running leg drop but has gone to the well too many times as Goose rolls away safely this time. Beth charges into a drop toe hold by Goose and he then scoops her up and slams her. Goose hits a big splash on Beth and covers her, the ref starts to count but Shelly yanks him out of the ring. Shelly chokes Goose and beth rolls him up for a pin. Shelly tries to count the pin and realizes she inst a ref. Shelly goes outside and throws the ref back in just in time for him to count Beth's shoulders to the mat as Goose schoolgirls her.
Beth and Shelly try to escape into the locker room but all the faces stop them carrying syrup and feathers. They tape Beth and Shelly together in the ring on a tarp as Goose goes to town with the tar and feathering. Idol runs in to stop Goose when Brisco gets on the mic demanding that this all stop. He said he tried to get to E-town in time to stop this but he wasnt in time. He starts asking "Do you think this makes you a superstar, I am ashamed to be witnessing this....GOOSE MAHONEY!" Idol starts laughing realizing he is not the one being taken to task. Brisco tells Goose he has not only disgraced any wrestling official who considers himself worth a damn, but all of OVW. He tells Goose he is now barred from taking part in matches in E-town ever again. Goose hangs his head as the heels laugh all the way to the showers.
