Bringing back Cody Rhodes has been a big success for WWE as they have a new main eventer, showing AEW talent that they can make the jump and be pushed as promised, and make money.
Rhodes made his return to WWE last year when he was revealed as Seth Rollins’ opponent at WrestleMania 38. Since then, he has continued to build his momentum to the point that he’s at now well despite being away for several months after being sidelined with a torn pec.
He returned to WWE television from injury this past January when he worked the 30-man Royal Rumble match, winning it and earning himself a shot at main event WrestleMania 39 next Sunday in LA when he challenges Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Rhodes is doing strong merchandise numbers.
“Rhodes now hitting the levels of top tier main eventers as far as merchandise sales go”
Heading into the WrestleMania 39 match, Rhodes is currently the favorite to win the match to dethrone “The Tribal Chief.”
