After it was reported that Goldberg's contract with WWE expired at the end of 2022, there has been a lot of speculation about what his future holds in the wrestling business.
The WWE Hall of Famer hasn’t wrestled since the Elimination Chamber premium live event in February 2022, where he lost to Roman Reigns.
There has been speculation about the possibility of Goldberg coming to AEW as company President Tony Khan has stated that he was paying attention to the legend's status.
While doing an interview with 93.7 The Ticket, Goldberg was asked to comment on the rumors surrounding his status. He brought up again that WWE never gave him a proper retirement match despite making a handshake agreement with Vince McMahon about just that after the Reigns match. He first mentioned that he was owed a retirement match in March.
Goldberg told host Adam Carriker that nobody will tell him when he's done wrestling - "period, end of story." When people have told him it's time to hang up the boots, he gets rebellious and feels determined to provide people wrong.
He's not satisfied with the way his WWE run ended and wants to take matters into his own hands. Goldberg considers himself a businessman and feels like he's still able to deliver in the ring. He won't officially retire until his wrestling character gets the sendoff he feels it deserves.
Goldberg then dropped the news that he's looking at doing a "retirement world tour" and might even promote it himself. It's still in the planning stages, but he's discussing the idea of wrestling in four cities and then calling it a career.
"Anything and everything is an option and I’m very much so leaning towards promoting it myself and doing a four city world tour. Let the rumor mill start up after that.”
