CM Punk will be one of AEW's top babyfaces upon his return to the promotion, despite the controversy from last September's All Out Pay-Per-View.

Since the media scrum and backstage fight, many within the industry have criticized Punk's actions at the event that led to multiple wrestlers being suspended.

Punk has hardly done himself any favors in winning people over and made fiery accusations at AEW and talent on Instagram last month.

In the now-deleted post, Punk alleged that AEW pressured him to compete when not cleared, Jon Moxley refused to lose to him, and Chris Jericho is a liar.

Despite the issues between Punk and AEW, the Chicago-Made wrestler's return is reportedly in the works for later this year.

It has been reported that Punk will return in June on what is believed to be the premiere episode of AEW's Saturday show, rumored to be called 'AEW Collision.'

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer pointed out that with the show airing from Chicago, Punk will get a babyface return.

Meltzer added that Punk will likely stay a babyface going forward, as the company is in need of a top good guy at this time.

It was added that while Punk will be the top star on AEW Collision, the Elite, and the Blackpool Combat Club will remain top attractions on Dynamite.

While AEW has no shortage of dastardly villains, including World Champion MJF, the BCC, the Jericho Appreciation Society, and others, there's a lack of faces.

In his report, Meltzer added that FTR would likely be elevated as faces given their connection to Punk.

It has been speculated that Punk and FTR will team together to face the Elite at the upcoming All In event in London.
