Olympic Gold Medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock could not be happier with signing with WWE, according to a recent tweet.

It was reported earlier this week that Mensah-Stock had signed with WWE, making her the first female Olympic Gold Medalist to be under contract with WWE. She first appeared on WWE programming in 2021 following her victory in that year's Tokyo Summer Games. Taking to Twitter, Mensah-Stock confirmed reports of her signing with WWE, calling the decision an "AWESOME OPPORTUNITY."

By signing with WWE, Mensah-Stock becomes the third Olympic Gold Medalist under contract. The first was of course Kurt Angle, who made his on-screen debut in 1999. It would be over two decades later that WWE would sign Gable Steveson following his victory in Tokyo. While WWE has had plans for Steveson on TV for some time, his career has been delayed by several obstacles. Steveson has had to battle Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and is currently seeking to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

It's not just Gold Medalists who WWE has signed over the years. Bad News Brown captured a Bronze medal for judo in the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal. Mark Henry competed in powerlifting during the 1996 Atlanta Games (the same in which Angle won his gold) but came nowhere close to winning a medal. After competing in the 2004 Athens Games, Ronda Rousey won bronze in the 2008 Beijing Games, becoming the first American woman to win a medal in judo. Four years later, Chad Gable would represent Team USA in wrestling at London 2012.
