It looks like AEW could be getting a shot of star power back in the near future after Santana posted a new video on social media amidst reports that he’s on his way back from injury.

Santana has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury during the Blood & Guts match last June on an episode of Dynamite after entering the cage. He went for a uranage on Daniel Garcia but landed awkwardly on his leg and had to be helped back.

It was later confirmed by AEW President Tony Khan a week later that Santana was looking at a long time in recovery. Santana suffered a torn ACL.

As recently as last week, it was reported that Santana is nearing a return, but what AEW will do with him is up in the air as he had a falling out with Ortiz before his injury. Ortiz hasn’t been used by AEW very often since Santana was sidelined.

When he was used, it was with Eddie Kingston early in 2023, although that stopped once Kingston was moved to the ROH roster. Ortiz’s last match happened when he lost to Brian Cage on the ROH TV tapings held on April 5. His last AEW match was the Face of the Revolution Ladder match on March 1.

In a post on Twitter, Santana tweeted a video of him commuting to a high school gymnasium. This comes after a similar video to Twitter on April 21 as well.

In 2012, Santana and Ortiz started teaming together, and they joined Impact Wrestling as members of the new LAX in 2017. They signed with AEW in 2019 and found further success in Chris Jericho's Inner Circle faction.
