Saturday's episode of AEW Collision featuring the matchup between Samoa Joe and CM Punk averaged 580,000 viewership and did a 0.21 rating (P18-49). The July 8 episode was the fifth highest viewership on cable shows for the evening.

Last week's episode of AEW Collison continued the rivalry between Punk and Joe as they had their first singles match in 18 years. The two competitors had a feud in Ring of Honor, so fans have been interested in seeing them compete in a long-awaited matchup. Their match was also the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, which will conclude on the July 15 episode.

In their matchup, Punk got the victory and moved on to the finals. After the match, Joe attacked Punk to tease that their rivalry was far from over. Fightful Select reported that the former AEW World Champion wanted to work with Joe when he returned to the company. It's unclear if Punk and Joe will continue to feud with each other past their match on the July 8 episode, but the company left it open with Joe assaulting Punk. For now, Punk will be facing Ricky Starks on this Saturday episode to determine the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner.

Another match on the show had AEW World Tag team Champions FTR(Dax Hardwood & Cash Wheeler) taking on Bullet Club Gold (Jay White & Juice Robinson) in a title eliminator match. The "heel" tag team defeated FTR in an entertaining match and has earned an opportunity to challenge for the tag titles.

Fans of AEW tuned in to the July 8 episode for a 580,000 viewership, an increase from the July 1 show did 452,000, according to Jed I. Goodman. AEW Collision was also going against stiff competition on Saturday night, as UFC had their prelims for UFC 290 around the same time. The prelims were also shown on the ABC and ESPN channel live simultaneously.

Goodman reported on Twitter that UFC 290 prelims did 1.155 million viewership on ABC with a 0.33 rating and 704,000 viewers with a 0.32 rating on ESPN.

Despite the competition, AEW was able to take fifth place, but this could be a problem for the company's viewership during the fall. As College Football makes its return and UFC events take place on Saturday evenings, it could lower the AEW Collision audience in the following months. It's also worth noting that AEW Collision started with an 816,000 viewership with a 0.33 rating (P18-49) and has yet to replicate its debut viewers since then.

AEW Collision is still fresh and can still possibly reach success like AEW Dynamite, and Rampage did at some point. However, the company will face tough Saturday competition and has shown signs that it may not be able to reach over 800,000 on a consistent basis.
