AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy has proven himself in the ring, and he now has a new role backstage with the promotion.

Cassidy has reigned as International Champion since October of last year when he defeated PAC to become the All-Atlantic Champion. In March of this year, the title's name was changed and Cassidy marked the change by retaining his title against Jeff Jarrett. Orange Cassidy recently broke the record for the most successful title defenses of any championship in AEW, surpassing the 25 TBS Championship reigns of Jade Cargill.

Fightful Select reports that in addition to what he is doing on-screen, Cassidy is now working behind the scenes as a producer and agent for AEW. The AEW International Champion produced recent matches that saw Infantry face The Kingdom as well as a tag-team match pitting Big Bill and Brian Cage against Matt Sydal and Trent.

The role of a producer/agent is to be on headset during the match, make sure the matches don't go under/overtime, and send directions to ringside. Before the match, the producer/agent will also go over the match with the talent and relay important spots to the TV production crew so they know what to expect.

Cassidy isn't the only AEW star to be working both on-screen and behind the scenes. In addition to his role as part of the Blackpool Combat Club, Bryan Danielson has also been working closely with AEW's creative team. In WWE, Danielson (Daniel Bryan at the time) worked as part of the creative team. CM Punk has also been working closely with the management of AEW Collision, which he has been the focus of since the show launched.
