The WWE Women's Championship match at last weekend's SummerSlam Premium Live Event was a history-making match in more ways than one.

Asuka walked into Ford Field as champion, having been christened the Women's Champion earlier this year, following her win at Night of Champions. Bianca Belair, the woman Asuka beat in Jeddah, would capture the Women's Championship at SummerSlam but her reign was short-lived. Mere moments after her win, IYO SKY would cash in her Money in the Bank contract on the EST to become the new champion.

As three of WWE's most celebrated female Superstars, the company gave the match plenty of time. WrestleOps noted that Asuka, Flair, and Belair made history at the event by being involved in the longest Women’s match in the PPV’s history, as the bout went over 20 minutes.

The match also marked the end of Flair's undefeated streak at SummerSlam, where she is now 5-1. The Queen still boasts the record for the most Women's Championship wins in Triple Threat matches with three. Unsurprisingly the match between SKY and Belair set the record for the shortest WWE Women's Championship match.

There's no shortage of directions that WWE can go in following this historic match at SummerSlam. Asuka will no doubt be eager to regain her championship and has teased a feud with IYO SKY in the past. Belair will likely be seeking a rematch after her reign was cut short.

I was wondering if Belair vs Sjy was the shortest women's championship match in WWE history. lol It was very short.
