During today's Andy Kaufman Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, "notes" from the late Andy Kaufman were read, as he was "unable to attend", including a thank you to WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler:
"David Letterman gave me carte blanche on national TV, allowing me to panhandle with mucus running down my nice, singing in a diaper, going into a tirade after being being slapped by Jerry Lawler...now that was something else if I do say so myself...
Jerry Lawler, our escapades were a dream come true, and a new dream came true when I was inducted into the main wing of the wrestling Hall of Fame."
The mention of the induction, obviously a reference to Kaufman's WWE Hall of Fame induction earlier this year in Los Angeles, received a large round of applause.

During the ceremony, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce named todayn 8/24/23 Andy Kaufman Day for Hollywood.
