CM Punk's days with AEW may be over, but that doesn't mean his ally Ace Steel will be next to go.

Punk's release was confirmed last weekend following a week-long investigation into the backstage altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In. Speaking to the crowd in Chicago ahead of last weekend's Collision, Tony Khan said that he feared for his life during the altercation and did what he felt he had to do.

While many in AEW had issues with Punk, Ace Steel has always been on Punk's side, even fighting alongside Punk during the infamous All Out 2022 backstage brawl. Steel was rehired by AEW to oversee plans for Punk earlier this year but the decision was made to keep him from events. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that despite Punk's exit, Steel isn't expected to lose his job.

"They weren’t happy when he was hired, but now it’s kind of like he’s there. He’s working remote. He didn’t do anything wrong. I have heard no movement of anyone like, ‘Okay, now that Punk’s gone, let’s get rid of Ace’ at all from anybody."

If CM Punk hopes to wrestle again, then WWE will likely be the only promotion ready to afford his asking price. That being said, many in WWE do not want Punk back, with some of the top stars of the company having heat with the former AEW star. Earlier this year, Seth Rollins called Punk a "cancer" and advised him to stay away from WWE while Grayson Waller recently poked fun at Punk's situation.
