The uncertainty surrounding Gable Steveson's future didn't stop the Olympian from picking up his first victory as a WWE Superstar this week.

Steveson signed with WWE in 2021, becoming the second-ever Olympic Gold Medalist to sign with the promotion, following in the footsteps of Kurt Angle. Despite being drafted to Raw that same year (the first draftee to be selected with 0 matches,) Steveson never competed on the red brand, and was not picked by Raw during this year's draft.

At NXT Great American Bash, Steveson finally had his debut match for WWE, suffering a count-out draw with Baron Corbin.

Earlier this week, Steveson was pulled from WWE's roster, raising questions about his future in the ring. Despite this, the Olympic Gold Medalist worked NXT’s house show in Sebring, Florida on Friday Night. At the event, Steveson defeated Dante Chen in what a Twitter user who attended the event described as a "back and forth” affair. Steveson would earn the submission victory with an ankle lock, a nod to Kurt Angle.

Steveson's first in-ring victory was part of quite the show for the fans at the Alan Jay Arena in Sebring, Florida. The results for the show are as follows:

Damian Pace defeated Luca Crusifino.
Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend beat Breanna Ruggiero & Fallon Henley.
Eddy Thorpe beat Riley Osborne.* Lyra Valkyria beat Jacy Jayne.
The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) beat Tyson DuPont & Turiek Igwe.
Trick Williams beat Scrypts.
