WWE's Executive Chairman Vince McMahon returned to the promotion this week and wasted no time in exercising his authority.

In July, McMahon underwent 'major' spinal surgery, which the WWE roster was kept in the dark about. The 77-year-old billionaire was reportedly under the knife for five hours though the specific reason for this operation remains unclear at this time.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Vince McMahon has returned from his medical leave, and made multiple changes to this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. McMahon was not present at this week's event but made changes remotely. Meltzer added that Triple H was also making a lot of changes during the day, but that the changes McMahon made were "for the better."

McMahon returned to WWE in January of this year after stepping down as CEO in June 2022 and retiring the following month. McMahon's decision to retire came due to the hush-money scandal, in which the 77-year-old billionaire was alleged to have paid millions of dollars to hide extramarital affairs with female staff.

In April, McMahon was heavily involved with the post-WrestleMania 39 Raw, which fell on the same day that Endeavor's acquisition of WWE was announced. That same month, McMahon was named in a lawsuit alleging racism and discrimination from WWE, but the lawsuit has since been voluntarily dismissed. Last month, McMahon was served with a federal grand jury subpoena, and a search warrant was executed.

WWE's merger with UFC ends Vince McMahon's complicated relationship with professional wrestling.
