WWE will be traveling to Australia for a stadium-sized show next year, it has been claimed.

The West reports that Perth, Australia is "locked in" to host a WWE stadium event in 2024. It was reported back in May that WWE was intending to bring a PLE to Perth. The local government is said to be "just days away" from announcing the show, which will take place at Optus Stadium.

The venue can hold up to 61,266 people, making it the third-largest stadium in Australia (after the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Stadium Australia). The show is expected to take place in early 2024, before the start of the AFL season in late March.

WWE first toured Australia in 1985, visiting Melbourne, Perth, and Newcastle, and would tour Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth & Adelaide the following year. It'd be over 15 years before Australian WWE fans got to see live action, with the 'Global Warning Tour' happening in the summer of 2002.

In December 2016, NXT would host its first event in Australia at the Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne. Notable names featured include Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe, and The Revival, as well as homegrown talent including Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, and TM-61.

Less than two years later, WWE would host its most significant event in Australia, that being 'WWE Super Show-Down' in October 2018 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Over 70,000 fans attended the show, though that figure is disputed, to see a stacked event headlined by Triple H defeating The Undertaker in the final singles match between the two.

WWE is home to many Superstars who come from Australia. This includes reigning WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley, Indi Hartwell, 'Big' Bronson Reed, Emma, and Grayson Waller.

WWE secured a new TV deal and streaming deal in Australia last year.
