John Cena will make his in-ring return as part of next month's Fastlane Premium Live Event, WWE has confirmed.
Cena is currently embarking on his longest run in WWE in years, which saw him return earlier this month and serve as the host of the WWE Payback 2023 PLE. At WWE Superstar Spectacle earlier this month, Cena competed in his first match since WrestleMania 39: teaming with Seth 'Freakin' Rollins to defeat Imperium's Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci.
In recent weeks, John Cena has had his issues with Solo Sikoa & Jimmy Uso, with the latter trying to work his way back into the Bloodline. Cena opened last night's SmackDown by saying he wanted to wrestle and AJ Styles, who has also had issues with Sikoa/Uso, aligning himself with 'Big Match John.'

Paul Heyman agreed to the match, on the condition that it didn't take place on SmackDown but rather at Fastlane. Jimmy Uso said they'd sign the contract in the ring, a decision Heyman seemed displeased with, claiming decisions like this needed approval from Roman Reigns.
Before that contract signing took place though, Sikoa and Uso attacked Styles backstage, sending him out in an ambulance after Sikoa splashed Styles off a platform. Cena confronted both Sikoa and Uso in the ring but was laid out by both men to end the show.

No other matches have been confirmed for WWE's upcoming PLE other than the Cena match. WWE Fastlane, the seventh event under the Fastlane name, will take place on October 7, from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
