AEW World Championship MJF has reached a new milestone in his career by breaking the record for the longest title reign.

MJF's reign began on November 19, 2022 at AEW Full Gear when he dethroned Jon Moxley (albeit with an assist from William Regal). From the get-go, MJF would make it clear that his reign would be different from others by introducing his custom version of the AEW World Title.

Kenny Omega, who previously held the record of longest AEW World title reign (346 days), attempted but failed to keep that record in tact in a singles match against the 27-year-old wrestling prodigy. MJF won but had praise for Omega after AEW Collision went off the air.

Today (November 1, 2023) marks the record-setting 347th day as champion. As he approaches a full calendar year as AEW World champion, MJF vows to go down as the greatest of all time.

MJF's reign saw the first custom AEW World Championship introduced, but this is by no means the only pioneering moment from his reign. In March, MJF retained his title by beating Bryan Danielson in AEW's first Iron Man match at AEW Revolution 2023.

At AEW Double or Nothing, MJF retained his title, this time in the first four-way match for the AEW World Championship. In August, MJF retained against his friend Adam Cole at AEW's first UK-based event, All In.

MJF is now the longest-reigning AEW World Champion, but the reign of the 'Scumbag' is in serious jeopardy. At Full Gear, MJF will defend the title against Jay White, who has been in possession of the AEW World Championship belt for some time now.

In case the talented Bullet Club Gold member wasn't enough, MJF may soon have to deal with Samoa Joe, who has made it clear he's hungry for the AEW World Championship. MJF retained his AEW World Championship against Joe at AEW Grand Slam: Dynamite last month.
