Karrion Kross was set to appear on this week's SmackDown before his backstage segment was nixed.
The November 3, episode of SmackDown served as the go-home show before WWE Crown Jewel. Due to the roster traveling to Riyadh for the Saudi show, this week's SmackDown was taped on October 27, after last week's live edition of the blue brand.
Kross was supposed to be on this week's episode of SmackDown, Fightful Select has learned. The two-time former NXT Champion was scheduled for a backstage segment with wife Scarlett, and Scarlett's Halloween Havoc co-host Shotzi. Sources within WWE indicated that the segment "would not have made sense for almost anyone involved," and was nixed very early in the day. The segment was nixed before it was ever filmed.
Despite the segment being cut early on, this wasn't relayed to some within the company. This led to the segment appearing on run sheets and was on the slate for the show as of 7 PM ET before the double taping. This change didn't cause any major issues with timing as it was a taped show and things were adjusted easily.
There are no concrete details on what Kross, Scarlett, and Shotzi would have done during the nixed segment. There's also no word on what creative plans are in place for Kross, though the SmackDown star teased a match with John Cena in September.
