Fans tuning in to the October 27, 2023, edition of AEW Rampage missed out on one of the planned matches after an ex-WWE star refused to lose.

The October 27, Rampage saw Mike Santana defeat Ortiz in a No-Disqualification match, while Abadon won a four-way to earn an AEW Women's World Championship match. In the show's main event, Konosuke Takeshita defeated Kyle Fletcher. After the match, Fletcher teased joining the Don Callis family.

These three matches were able to take place as the wrestlers agreed to the booking of the show. Pro-wrestling relies on participants working together, but not everyone at Rampage was willing to be part of the team.

The show was supposed to see a match between Komander and Metalik, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed. Metalik was supposed to lose but refused to take the loss though it is unclear why exactly he was against this. Metalik had lost to Komander during a Ring of Honor taping in the week prior to this episode of AEW Rampage.

Komander signed with AEW in April of this year, after competing at Ring of Honor's Supercard of Honor event the previous month. His most recent AEW match saw him take part in a triple threat on last week's AEW Rampage which was won by Penta El Zero Miedo. Outside of AEW, he is the current AAA World Cruiserweight Champion.

Metalik debuted for AEW during the September 19, 2022, edition of AEW Dark: Elevation. His most recent AEW match saw him on the losing end of a six-man tag during the October 7, Collision. He is a former WWE 24/7 Champion.
