Randy Orton could be stepping into WarGames for the first time in his career later this month at WWE Survivor Series.

The former WWE World Champion hasn't competed since May of last year when he and Matt Riddle lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to The Usos. Orton's severe back injury would play a factor in WWE's decision to unify the Raw & SmackDown Tag Team Championships as they wanted the gold quickly off of RK-Bro.

Earlier this week, it was reported that WWE was considering adding Drew McIntyre to the Men's WarGames match planned for Survivor Series on November 25. If WWE goes ahead with the idea and adds McIntyre to the Judgment Day's team, then Orton's return could see him align with the babyfaces, Fightful Select has learned.

Orton returning to join sides with Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, and Kevin Owens, has been the plan since this Summer. Rather than wait until the day of Survivor Series, the tentative plan is for Orton to be revealed the day before, to avoid any speculation that a returning CM Punk could be the fifth man. As always, creative plans are subject to change, though that has been less common as of late.

Randy Orton has quite the history at Survivor Series, and is often on the victorious side. From 2003 to 2005, Orton was the sole survivor on his victorious team in traditional elimination tag-team match action. While Orton's team would lose in 2006, the Viper was the last man standing for his team. Orton was also victorious in Survivor Series tag-team action in 2009, 2009, and 2016. The Viper has also retained World Championship gold at the event in 2007 and 2013.
