Jimmy and Jey Uso, the Uso brothers, are known for using their signature phrase "Day One Ish." Initially, they sported matching sweatshirts with the phrase and even incorporated it into their entrance music. Since then, Jey has ventured on his own, debuting a new entrance theme. However, in a recent interview, he revealed the meaning behind the phrase.

Talking about the original “Day One Ish” song that he used with his brother, Jey told Billboard that after they got their heel turn, they let go of the face-paint and needed new music as well. He mentioned that during that time, white boots weren’t commonly worn, but they stumbled upon a deal at the mall, where they bought black joggers, a black hoodie, and white Forces.

While at the mall, they contemplated what to print on their shirts. His brother Jimmy suggested "Day One Ish," a phrase intended to censor explicit language, to which they agreed. They wore the phrase on a hoodie during a TV appearance, and it stuck since then. The term essentially meant "Day One Sh*t."

“We got in the booth and they wanted us to have new music,” Jey revealed. “We had these two younger cats that came up with the hook, ‘Down since Day One Ish.’ We was just ad-libbing on the track and they let us flow. First couple times we was held back, but then we got warmed up and started yelling and hitting it. We were damn near sweating in the booth.”

When it came to re-recording his solo entrance music, which now exclusively features him without his brother, Jey began with a bold declaration, stating, "It is just me in this b**ch," setting the tone for the song. Jey shared that the song is perfectly timed with his entrance to the ring, also including parts that involve the audience during his entrance.

Elsewhere in the interview, Uso also talked about the music he listens to before getting ready for matches. He said he listens to Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole, 2Pac, Jay-Z, and to add in a bit of variety in music, Britney Spears.
